Why will REVERSE Regimen brighten my dull skin and lighten my dark spots?

Do I need to use all the steps in REVERSE Regimen to get results?
Yes, each step of REVERSE Regimen builds upon the last to treat every aspect of uneven skin tone and patch areas of dark pigmentation through exfoliation, lightening with the medicine hydroquinone, brightening with botanical agents, and protecting with a zinc based broad-spectrum sunscreen. Skipping any one of these steps can minimize results.
When can I expect to see results from the REVERSE Regimen?
Usually following the first use, a smoother brighter complexion begins to emerge. For hyperpigmentation, it may take 2-6 months before an even color is achieved. At that point you may transition to the ANTI-AGE Regimen and may always return to using REVERSE Regimen if your skin becomes dull or spots begin to reappear.
My skin is looking lighter and brighter. Now what should I do?
The biggest mistake customers make is stopping the regimen at the first sign of improvement. The secret to great skin is consistent care. For hyperpigmentation, it may take 2-6 months to before an even color is achieved. At that point, you may switch to the ANTI-AGE Regimen and focus on treating and helping to prevent the signs of aging.
The most important thing that you can do when you are prone to abnormal hyperpigmentation is to protect your skin from sun damage. Excessive pigmentation is stimulated by the sun every day, whether it is bright and sunny or cloudy and rainy. We strongly recommend continuing to use the REVERSE UVA/UVB SPF 30Sunscreen or the ESSENTIALS UVA/UVB SPF 30 Sunscreen on a daily basis, reapplying every 2 hours when outdoors. Wear a broad-brimmed hat, seek shade and cover your skin whenever possible.
If your dark spots return or you notice that your skin is looking dull, you can start using the REVERSE Regimen again to lighten and brighten your skin for radiant, healthy-looking skin.
Can I use REVERSE Regimen if I am pregnant or nursing?
If you are pregnant or nursing you should not use REVERSE Skin Lightening Toner and REVERSE Skin Lightening Treatment, both of which contain hydroquinone, before checking with your OB/GYN. The affects of hydroquinone on pregnant or nursing mothers are unknown.
Is REVERSE Regimen safe?
All of the ingredients in the REVERSE Regimen have been safely used for many years. All of our products undergo stability, irritancy, SPF, compatibility, and microbial testing. We also validate our products and their effectiveness with consumer trials prior to market introduction. Do not use the REVERSE Skin Lightening Toner or REVERSE Skin Lightening Treatment if you are pregnant of nursing.
Is Hydroquinone safe to use?
Hydroquinone is an FDA allowed medication- the gold standard, used by Dermatologists for more than 40 years to lighten excessive darkness.
The FDA currently allows the over-the-counter sale of up to 2% hydroquinone products such as the Rodan + Fields REVERSE Regimen. As you know, it is our goal to provide consumers with safe and effective products and we will monitor the FDA’s proposal.

Is 2% hydroquinone as good as prescription medications?
Although prescription Hydroquinone medication is effective, many times customers are not satisfied with the results for the following reasons:

Using hydroquinone only on dark marks result in lightening both the spot and surrounding areas to create a halo of lightness
Higher strengths of medication may result in skin irritation or dryness
As an alternative, the REVERSE Regimen is designed as a comprehensive treatment to reduce dullness and excessive dark marks and create radiant skin with even tone. It is more than just 1 ingredient - the REVERSE Regimen boosts the natural exfoliation process to prepare the skin for the next steps, lightens brown spots with hydroquinone, brightens the over-all complexion, and helps protect the skin with the right sunscreen. All of these factors combined make REVERSE Regimen very effective. Use the REVERSE Regimen as directed for best results, if you skip any one step in this process, you may not achieve your best results.
If you have been prescribed Hydroquinone 4% by your doctor for specific dark areas on the face or hands, you may continue using the REVERSE Regimen and apply the prescription Hydroquinone 4% as directed. Please consult with your doctor if you have any questions regarding your prescription medication.
Can I use REVERSE Regimen products on my body?
REVERSE Regimen may be used on the face, neck, décolleté, hands and arms or wherever you have dark spots or dull looking skin. You may need to reduce the frequency of use for more delicate skin areas such as; neck and décolleté.
Can you safely lighten African American skin?
Rodan + Fields regimens may be used on any ethnicity to treat and help prevent excessive darkness and uneven skin tone. The lightening ingredients work on abnormal pigmentation and will not bleach or lighten your overall normal skin coloring. The end result is a more radiant, even complexion, not necessarily lighter.
